Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) 
for Retail Professionals

Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is about skills and knowledge that have been achieved outside the formal education and training system. Is an upfront assessment conducted when a candidate believes he/she is already competent or has met the learning outcomes and assessment requirements.  

This competency may have been achieved through current or previous work experience, life experience and other forms of education and training.

RPL assessment establishes whether the individual’s claim of competence is verifiable. The RPL assessment may include workplace observation, interviews and professional conversations, work examples and documented evidence.
